Female Pattern Hair Loss

Around thirteen per cent of women suffer from this condition. It commonly manifests itself leading up to the early stages of menopause in a woman’s life but the condition increases at an accelerated rate during the stages of post menopause. It is believed that around seventy-five per cent of women worldwide will have suffered from this problem by the time they reach the age of sixty-five.

There are a range of factors and influences that can bring this condition on iron deficiencies, diet-related factors and pregnancy can all be a common contributor to hair loss amongst women. Virilisation and the presence of testosterone within the female can be looked for, tested and treated – this can often be a leading factor towards the problem.

It is recommended that you seek the advice of your doctor should you experience an increasing loss of hair. Your doctor will advise and prescribe the best medication which in most cases will cure the problem with no lasting signs of loss or hair damage. With female pattern balding the problem usually manifests itself and shows its signs across the crown area of the head and near the back – usually, the female hairline is left unaffected by the condition so it is important to check your entire head if you feel you are loosing small or large amounts of hair.

The good news is there are many forms of treatment available to you for this condition in the form of various medications and hair treatments. The days of having to hide your condition or wear cumbersome hair pieces are gone. Medicated shampoos and other forms of treatment can stop this condition in its tracks and reduce the change and risk of further damage to your hair – even for women where the loss of hair may only be a temporary condition.

There are various stages of the condition and if you are unsure what steps to take or what you should do – contact us for the best course of advice and support and we will assist you in your recuperation from this condition.
