Androgenetic

This is by far the most commonly found form of alopecia. This version is hereditary and is found in over fifty per cent of men and women throughout their life cycle and it usually takes effect by the time both reach their forties. In the male, the signs to look out for are the reseeding of the hairline around the temple area of the head and usually comes at the same time as the hair on top of the head becoming a little thinner in thickness and volume. Much greater cases see the reseeding of the hairline going all the way back to the crown area. For the female, it manifests itself in a general overall thinning of the hair across the top and rear of the head. Whereas a woman’s hairline generally remains the male hairline gradually moves back sometimes leading to a complete hair loss.

Telogen Effluvium

The second biggest form of alopecia has been known to show in anyone at any age. When a person’s body is going through hormonal changes at various stages and ages in life these change in hormones can affect hair growth leading to hair loss. Childbirth and even the common cold, flu or a bad fever can trigger this form of alopecia.

Alopecia Areata

This form of Alopecia manifests itself in the form of round patches of missing hair across the crown. It can range from patches of lost hair to complete hair loss and is commonly brought on by stress.
